Position is for a staff engineer for the development of rocket engine systems hardware and engine hot-fire test planning. This position requires knowledge and experience with rocket engine combustion devices hardware design and development, manufacturing processes, and vendor integration. Tasks include development of trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component- and engine-level test plans. Hardware includes injectors, combustion chambers, nozzles, igniters.

Under general direction, the Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, and practices.

40%: Development and production fabrication support of Combustion Devices rocket engine components (injectors, thrust chambers, nozzles). Translates engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through entire product life cycle.

10%: Test support for combustion devices components

20%: Supplier integration with external vendors

20%: Analyzes and verifies product design and performance for adequacy and reliability. Supports investigation and resolution of hardware and process anomalies and issues identified by preventative action/corrective action boards or safety initiative activities.

10%: Develops trade studies, design concepts, systems integration and component-level test plans.

-Experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems desired.

-Experience working an equivalent engineering design/development environment is desired.

-General engineering/science background; Understanding and use of analytical, design or process procedures pertinent to the particular field of engineering

-Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and specifications

-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely;May require the use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and/or various computer systems.

-Ability to operate effectively in a team environment.

-BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field w/10+ years experience required (or equivalent).
