Reliability, Maintainability and Safety Engineer III

Description:
Position Summary: This position will encompass all aspects of systems and component Reliability, Maintainability and System Safety (RMS) engineering. Duties will include developing statistical methodologies to proactively identify in service reliability and safety issues. This will include tool development and automation, process design for validation of data, and report generation. This position involves multiple ongoing programs spanning Military and Commercial Aviation, and Commercial Space Launch business spaces. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs Reliability Predictions; Reliability Centered Maintenance Analysis (RCM/RCM+).
Approves Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA); Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA); Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
Conducts and approves System Safety Assessment (SSA), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), Zonal Analysis, Common Modes Analysis (CMA), Level of Reparability Analysis (LORA).
Performs MSG-3 Analysis (MSI and SSI).
Provide Design for Maintenance / Design for Reliability inputs in support of engineering release.
Aiding systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during new development activity.
Reviewing and approval of design and development documentation for safety critical equipment.
Reviewing and approval of Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) for assigned subsystem.
Assisting with the creation and response to Customer Engineering Coordination Memos (ECMs).
Develops RMS Department process documentation.
Participating in ARP related audits, Design Reviews, and cross domain Systems Engineering peer reviews.
Providing assistance to and collaboration with Systems and Design Engineering Departments.
Leads technical issue discussion and resolution with the Customer.
System Safety Analysis in support of System Architecture and Design
Proposal Support.
Responsible for development and approval of reliability predictions of a system and components (including review and approval of supplier component reliability predictions.
Support Design reviews (System & Component).
Generate system & component requirements based on Safety analyses.
Training & mentoring of junior RM&S engineers.
Ability to perform Mean Time Between Failure Predictions, Fault Tree Analyses, ARP-4761 System Safety Analysis etc.
Advanced knowledge of ARP-4754 and ARP-4761.
Leads groups of engineers.
Responsible for successful completion of assigned tasks within committed schedule and cost.
Travel is possible for both domestic and international business.
Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:

Requires a BSAE, BSME, or Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field and more than 10 years of experience – combination of experience and certificates (military, FAA, etc.) may be used to meet some or all qualification requirements.
Must be highly competent using MS Office products.
Experience with RELEX, EAGLE, SLICWave, PowerLOG, and similar RM&S applications desired.
Experience with CATIA V5 is a plus.
Must also possess strong communication skills, verbal and written, strong organizational skills, and be able to work well within a team (IPT) environment as well as on his/her own, within a fast-paced, highly interactive environment.
Ideal candidates must be highly motivated self-starters who can ramp up quickly and demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks and activities.

Physical Requirements: Individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time, working at a desk and/or attending meetings. May occasionally require employee to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Will need to be able to move throughout the office and communicate with other employees and management. Work will be performed in an office environment.
