Mechanical Design Engineer

Description:
Design Engineer.

Position Profile: Under limited direction, has technical ownership of processes critical to manufacturing aerospace hardware specifically related to isothermal while supporting to achieve established goals and financial targets.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

Use modeling tools to design forging and heat treatment processes to meet customer requirements

Meet both internal and external design milestones on assigned tasks

Work with new product development, metallurgy and process engineering to develop, modify, and improve the processes associated with the production of forgings in accordance with customer design requirements

Support operations with witnessing of new jobs or jobs needing improvement

Assist operations with training of crews by providing rationale for specific instructions the crews are asked to comply with

Implement effective method to capture lessons learned to minimize future technical issues

Support identification and implementation of new technologies as needed

Perform other work-related duties as assigned by management.



Education Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics and a minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge of finite element analysis and experience using it to model plastic flow or fluid dynamics is required

AutoCAD or SolidWorks or UniGraphics experience

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.



Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or Physics from an accredited institution

Prior experience in Isothermal forging

Experience with DEFORM or STAR-CCM

Problem Solving experience such as DMAIC or 8D

NX-11 experience

Experience in the Aerospace industry

Experience in metal manufacturing, especially using titanium and/or nickel based superalloys.
