Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer

General Summary: 
The Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer will perform fatigue and damage assessments of the metallic structure of the aircraft.  
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessment of metallic structure
  • Make analytical fatigue life predictions through the use of in house software tool
  • Perform crack growth and residual strength analysis using NASGRO
  • Develop fatigue spectrums and support fatigue and damage tolerance testing
  • Make recommendations on design improvements related to fatigue and damage tolerance

 
 

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:



  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace engineering, or Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 8 years aerospace experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience fatigue and fracture mechanics experience; 2 years stress engineering preferred

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Workable knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills required; NASGRO and AFGRO analysis experience preferred
  • Understanding of aircraft spectrums preferred
  • Python experience is preferred
  • Experience with FEM, PATRAN, FEMAP, and CATIA is preferred
