Stability & Control Senior Engineer

Description:
Seeking a Stability & Control Senior Engineer who will be responsible for providing detailed stability and control analysis and input to the design of business jets. As the Senior Stability & Control Engineer you will report to the VP of Flight Sciences.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Independently address stability and control related issues throughout the vehicle design and test process
• Develop aerodynamic databases needed for Stability and Control
• Develop 6-DOF simulations and support of piloted simulations
• Support development of aircraft flight control laws
• Develop requirements for low and high-speed wind tunnel tests
• Provide inputs to developmental and FAA-approved flight manuals including normal handling characteristics and emergency procedures
• Support stability and control flight testing
• Develop requirements for stability and control sizing for air vehicles.
• Perform the design and analysis of control surfaces and overall vehicle dynamics.
• Support the FCS group to develop control architecture for aircraft
• Develop aircraft stability and control requirements that are compatible with overall system requirements under civil certification standards (FAR25/CS25)
• Design stability and control for failure mitigation and off-design operations

Requirements:
• A BS in Aeronautics or Aerospace Engineering with more than 10 years of experience (or MS in engineering plus 8 years of experience)
• Experience with the latest industry-standard stability and control and aerodynamic design and analysis tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK and lower-fidelity aerodynamic design and analysis tools such as LinAir, AVL, VLAERO, XFOIL, A502, MSES, ASWING, or XFLR5
• Experience working with CFD experts to generate data required for stability and control analyses
• Prior experience performing trade studies related to stability and control including using numerical tools as well as wind tunnel data
• Experience in the creation of aerodynamic stability and control databases
• Knowledge of, and experience with, FAA FAR 25 and EASA CS 25 stability and control regulatory requirements and means of compliance
• Experience with flight and wind tunnel test monitoring and data reduction to support stability and control analysis and certification efforts
• Familiarity in generating documentation to support certification efforts
