Project Engineer

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
§ Participate in planning and estimating of current and future budget projects
§ Coordinate internal resources and third party resources, as required, to execute projects
§ Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
§ Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within budget, and functional.
§ Develop a detailed project plan/schedule to track progress
§ Monitor project progress, setup, and metrics reporting (e.g. time reporting by various team members, as well as due dates and project finance metrics)
§ Keep detailed project notes and records
§ Keep all members of the team up-to-date with current information and paperwork
§ Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs
§ Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
§ Report and escalate project progress and issues to management as needed
§ Perform risk management to minimize project risks
§ Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
§ Create, maintain, and store project deliverables and documentation on the shared repository (e.g. MOC, drawing systems, Foreign Prints, etc.)
§ Experience with stage gate process for project development and execution

A minimum of 7 plus years of job related work experience in petrochemical or refining industry is required.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience is required.


§ Effective verbal and written communication skills
§ Technical reading and writing
§ Preparation of technical drawings and specifications
§ Computer skills (including but not limited to: Excel, Power Point, Word, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office)
§ Design ability in at least one of the following areas: Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Instrumentation/Controls Design, Civil Design, Metallurgy
§ Ability to perform technical mathematical calculations
§ Demonstrated theoretical and practical project management knowledge
§ Organized, efficient, good at multi-tasking with a drive to succeed
§ Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
§ Excellent prioritization and coordination skills with the ability to work with multiple deadlines under pressure
§ Knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts and ability to apply this knowledge analytically
§ Good leadership, organizational skills, analytical thinking, process and time management
§ Write Project Execution Plans, Scope of work Documents, Request for quote Documents, and other technical documents.
§ Knowledge of project management techniques and processes.
