Mechanical Engineer II

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II, in Sterling Heights, MI. 
The Mechanical Engineer II would support the development of ground combat vehicles for the US Armed Forces.
For this assignment, the engineer would be responsible for reviewing engineering CAD models, drawings and documentation to determine classification of commodities within the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) control for the purposes of Import/Export compliance.

This position will perform United States Munition List (USML) or Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) classifications and determine the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code and Schedule B number on new release and legacy commodities. In general, responsibilities will include:
• Ensure a safe working environment and compliance to safety objectives and policies
• Performing reviews of technical documentation to understand form, fit, function for appropriate classification
• Update properties within documentation and databases
• Communicate with supporting design functions, as required
• Perform in-house searches using online resources, CD ROM, catalogs, etc., for part/item screening for various vehicle programs 
Skills/ Experience/ Education Required :
• Basic functional understanding of components within vehicle systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, powertrain, suspension, tracks, HVAC, electronics, high voltage systems, armaments, and general hardware
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and fluid diagrams
• Act independently on general direction to research assigned commodities  
• 0-2 years of vehicle engineering experience 
• BSME or additional 4 years of highly relevant experience.  
• Must be US Person (US Citizen or permanent resident) 

Skills/ Experience/ Education Preferred :
• Experience with PTC CREO to open models and drawings
• Familiarity with PTC Windchill product data management system
• Understanding of Export Administration Regulations (EAR) or International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR)  
• 2 years of experience with relevant vehicle systems
