Engineering Design Checker III

Description:

The ideal candidate for this position will perform the following tasks:
* Designs and oversees the plant or manufacturing systems, fabrication, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, production machinery, and other material-handling equipment used in fabrication, assembly, and other production functions; analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data, and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts; oversees the construction of machine and subassemblies considering such specifications as gear ratios, bearing loads, and direction of moving parts; compiles and analyzes test data to determine effect of design on machines in relation to factors such as temperature, pressures, speed, horsepower, and fuel consumption.
* Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
* Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
* Experienced mechanical drawing checker working under the general supervision of a Lead Checker or Technical Engineer.
* Perform the Checking of design layouts of intermediate complexity, assembly and detail drawings to assure compliance with established Government, Industry and Company standards.
* Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience:
* Requires mechanical design engineering background in the areas of structures, materials, processes, fastening and joining, parts selection, tolerance analysis (incl. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and manufacturing methods.
* Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Mechanical Computer Aided Drawing (MCAD) skills

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
* PTC Pro/E skills
* PDM familiarity
