What You’ll Do:

Define requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems.
Define, coordinate, and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.
Develop specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Configure or design propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria.
Use various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance.
Define and perform certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components.
Support fielded systems to assure continued reliability.
Develop concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements.
Work under general direction.
What You’ll Need:

Top Secret Clearance
Background in spacecraft propulsion design.
Experience designing electric propulsion systems and sub-systems including thrusters, cathodes and/or feed systems.
Hands-on role for a highly collaborative individual that combines superb technical, and analytical capabilities to transition theoretical guidance and requirements into performant hardware optimized to be lightweight, cost effective and manufacturability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advance degree (Master’s or PhD) in structural or mechanical engineering or related discipline
Experience designing spacecraft propulsion systems and/or sub-components.
Experienced with designing plasma propulsion systems (such as Hall Effect thrusters), cathodes and/or electric propulsion propellant feed systems.
Experienced designing custom test fixtures for propulsion applications

*U.S. Citizenship is required by law, regulation, executive order, or government contract.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, physics or chemistry combined with 5 + years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
