Purchasing Agents

STS Technical Services is hiring Purchasing Agents in Nashville, Tennessee.

Essential Duties:
Be familiar with material, services and supplies as needed, including replacement and substitution availability, and troubleshoot problems
Receive and respond to material order requests and inquiries to provide and or / obtain information from vendors.
Research best price via Internet, media, etc. Identify the most cost effective product or service.
Identify new vendors in order to meet required and future needs of the company.
Review with vendor the cost, quantity, quality, delivery deadline, and schedule of payment for materials and services.
Enter and update material requests in SAP.
Obtain proper approval authorization for purchase requisition processing, and convert material requests to purchase orders upon approval.
Submit confirming purchase order to vendors, monitor and update purchase orders with any changes as necessary in database for processing by accounts payable.
Insure compliance of purchase order requirements as to price, quality, quantity and delivery deadlines
Maintain accurate records of: approvals, items ordered, and items received.
Confirm all incoming receipts with packing slip and order for accuracy, checks delivery information and shipping costs, taxes, quantity, unit of measure, price and quality, and resolves any damaged goods or short shipped product discrepancies.
Manage the process of ordering and distributing cell phones and other communication devices
Perform other administrative tasks as requested to support department needs.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
Intermediate Level Service, Production or Support Worker role requiring basic skills to perform most of the standard tasks within the function.
Generally at least 3 years of experience in area of responsibility
Skills are effective applied in accomplishing all tasks.
Assignments require basic knowledge of a technical or functional area.
Rapid learning and application of new information and concepts within the functional area takes place.
People management skills (HR guidelines, tools & policies).
Strong knowledge of value based management fundamentals (Shareholder Satisfaction x Customer Satisfaction x Employee Satisfaction), employment law (sexual harassment, disability, discrimination, labor laws, etc.).
Proficient in MS Office, Lotus Notes, Internet Explorer, SAP.
Ability to follow company policies and procedures.
Plan, organize, and direct an effective financial and administrative services program.
Ability to demonstrate negotiation skills.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including, OSHA, EPA, State and Federal regulations.
