Structural Design Engineer - C17 Globemaster III Program

Description:
Onsite, Hybrid or Remote:
* Hybrid, 3 days/week on site

Work Location:
* San Antonio, Texas

Position Type:
* Contract

Duration:
* 1 Year(s) w/ extensions every 6 months for the next 2+ years

Education:
* Bachelor's Degree is required, does not necessarily need to be an engineering degree

Interview Process:
* 1 and done - WebEx.

Top Required Skills
* 6-9 years of experience overall
* Any modeling tool (Catia is fine, but NX/Unigraphics would be ideal)
* Degree in Engineering (preferably structural or mechanical)

Bonus Skills
* Primary Structures would be best
* Military aircraft is a plus
* NX/Unigraphics is the bonus design tool

Non-technical skills:
* They will be interfacing with people in San Antonio in addition to the folks in Long Beach on this team. Since they get to go on base, they will also be working closely with Mechanics.

Why is the role open?
* This role was previously held by someone that loved it, but he transitioned into another role within the program

Project Overview:
* They will be touching a lot of different projects and they are basically supporting design changes (very similar to what they do in LB). They will be responsible for facilitating discussions and work between the type of engineering work in LB and also getting the input of the Mechanicals and Technical Document Writers.

What is the business challenge they’re trying to solve?
* No real “challenge” but the main struggle is missing the person that phased out of this role into a new role within the program. This vacancy is backlogging work.

What’s the impact to the end user?
* Redesign of the C17 aircraft and playing a part in that for the client (government/air force)
