Director of Engineering

Job Summary

Responsible to lead the Engineering team in the research, development, design, and certification of aircraft components. Plan and direct all aspects of engineering including mechanical, structural, and avionics design, stress analysis, testing, and document control. Oversee the financial budget and manage the organization’s manpower planning. Responsible for maintaining project budgets and schedules.

Supervisory Responsibilities
•Directly supervises employees in the Engineering department.
•Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
•Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
•For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Education & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from four-year college or university; and eight to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Master’s degree in Engineering or other relevant discipline preferred.
•10 years’ experience in engineering management in a substantive airframe or Medevac/Aeromedical Evacuation related organization

•5 years’ experience managing a wide range of projects from small to large

•1-2 years’ experience in aircraft delivery operations
•Expertise in developing and executing operating budgets
•Experience with quality management systems and/or regulatory compliance desired
•Experience in project/program management preferred

Skills
•Strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of collaboration at all levels.
•Demonstrated ability in process improvement
•Ability to manage people in different project teams and functional roles.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.

Computer Skills
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
•CAD/CAM/CAE/EPDM
•Inventor
•SolidWorks
