Position Purpose:
In this position, you will work in a fast-paced, challenging technical environment with data center personnel to support primarily our mainframe batch environments for some of the top lenders in the Unites States. * Note ** This is for a 3rd Shift Mainframe Computer Operations role - hours will be Mon-Fri 10:30pm to 7am next day

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control computer systems following procedures and processes to ensure availability and reliability of business processing.
  • Execute event correlation to ensure the proper resources are brought to bear on issues and problems.
  • Ensure critical applications are available by agreed service level times and escalate if required.
  • Provide initial escalation and communication point for critical and disruptive issues.
  • Control job schedules and monitor processing flows to complete nightly business batch processing.
  • Manage and control incident handling; accurately decide when to involve others based on criticality, impact and skill assessment.
  • Identify system problems, take corrective action as needed, and refer more complex problems / issues to second-level support groups, following all established escalation procedures.
  • Handle customer issues professionally and responsibly – manage emotional responses appropriately and work to diffuse tense situations.
  • Manage computer job scheduling, exception handling, and event resolution.

Required Qualification
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience supporting Mainframe batch environments.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to document and track defects, as well as produce detailed reports using defect tracking tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player yet able to work with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge of TSO/ISPF, JCL, CA-7 and File transmission concepts required
  • Experience with CA-Autosys distribute scheduling a plus
