Role: Facility and Design Engineer Level 2
Location: Vandenberg AFB, CA
Duration: 12+ months’ contract

Job Description:
• The Facility and Design Engineer will support repairs, modifications, and new designs of launch facilities in support of Launch Operations and Vandenberg Air Force Base California as part of Engineering and Infrastructure Team.
• The successful candidate will provide engineering and management support of associated facilities.
• The engineering and management support will include, but is not limited to:
• architectural, HVAC, electrical, civil, structural and mechanical systems, maintenance and facility corrosion control activities.
• The Candidate will coordinate the procurement of facility services, equipment, and will perform a variety of engineering tasks in support of mechanical, electrical and structural facility maintenance.
• The Candidate will perform investigation of anomalies encountered and will be responsible for developing corrective action plans and work documents for both and sub-contractor support. The Candidate will work with various government groups including Air Force and Base Civil Engineering personnel.
• The successful candidate shall prepare Statements of Work with detailed contractor direction, and manage contractor’s activities for facility corrosion control, repair of building architectural systems, miscellaneous civil, structural and mechanical repairs/modifications.
• In addition, the candidate will gather information, perform field walk-downs, and create, schedule and manage the performance of maintenance and/or corrective Work Orders performed by represented personnel.
• Support will also include schedule integration and coordination of maintenance activities around launch processing activities.
• Candidate shall have relevant facility engineering experience with an emphasis on architectural facility/building systems operations/modifications.
• The candidate shall perform engineering calculations, trade-studies, designs, evaluations, and rough cost estimates in support of the above engineering activities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum 3 yrs of professional experience.
• Experience with facilities engineering and plant operations.
• Experience working independently and in a team environment, with both represented and contractor personnel.
• Must have excellent communication, writing and oral skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of team members including represented personnel, customers and subcontractors.
Ability to solve practical problems.
• Able to analyze and interpret data to make sound judgements and recommendations.
• Ability to learn and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, logic diagrams and technical manuals.
