THIS POSITION IS FOR A PROJECT ENGINEER WITH STRONG TECHNICAL WRITING SKILLS AS THEY WILL DO BOTH POSITIONS.

This position supports the LCS Sustainment program in Jacksonville, FL. by performing the following functions:
1. Starting with a trial card, research existing drawings, technical publications and perform ship checks to develop a plan to correct the deficiency, present that plan to the industry team and the customer. On receipt of supervisor’s approval mature the plan through to a 4E Work Specification with material identified and entered in the material sourcing system. 2. Independently review Hull, Mechanical, Electrical and Mission Systems equipment modification and repair designs (drawings). 3. Provide input for the update for FREEDOM LCS Class LCS ships’ technical publications.

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory:

Basic Qualifications
1. U.S. person (export control restrictions) 2. Ship (military or commercial over 1,000 tons and 2,000 HP) engineering and systems familiarity. 3. Ability to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical drawings. 4. Strong writing and verbal communication skills. 5. Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities. 6. Technical understanding and use of computer modeling applications (AutoCad, Navisworks Manage, Ship Constructor). 7. Proficient in MS Office products. 8. Team player with process improvement qualities; organizational skills; and attention to detail. Typical Minimums Six years of related experience (including at least one year as 1st Assist Engineer, or E7 (or above) OR Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; Considered experienced, but still a learner.

Desired:

1. Navy ship Hull, Mechanical, Electrical (HM/E), Deck equipment and Combat Systems equipment and systems expertise. 2. Experience with Joint Forces Maintenance Manual (JFMM) and specifically with the development of 4E Work Specifications 3. Ship Repair Cost Estimating experience.4. Ship Design and Model Management experience. 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 6. Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
