PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Systems Administrator/Production Control Specialist, in Albuquerque, NM.
Seeking an experienced full-time Systems Administrator/Production Control Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals at the Albuquerque Data Center.

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Alabama Location, Enforcement and Collections System (ALECS) Child Support System. In general, the position is responsible for providing systems administration services necessary to support batch production scheduling and for scheduling the environment and performance jobs for the ALECS production and backup systems using the provided systems, processes, and tools.
  • Analyze, plan, and manage production control activities to improve runtime.
  • Investigate production control problems, analyze root causes, and derive solutions.
  • Develop positive relationship with internal team members and customer team members to meet productivity goals.
  • Work is performed in 24/7 environment at the Albuquerque Data Center during first shift.
  • Occasional weekend work and 24x7 on-call rotation is required. 
  • This individual should possess strong interpersonal skills, must possess solid organization abilities, and must be a motivated, flexible team player. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Under general supervision, the Systems Administrator is expected to perform the following tasks: 
  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with z/OS Systems Programmers and DBA’s. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. 
  • Follows proper security procedures, controls and maintains customer directed batch processing runs, input/output receipts, monitors peripheral input, processing, and output and assures proper documentation of events, issues and problems. 
  • Support Disaster Recovery processes and procedures.
  • Participate in Disaster Recovery test events 
  • Perform daily system checks 
  • Execute the ALECS production and test schedules on a daily basis (may set or revise schedules as requested) 
  • Restart jobs as directed 
  • Document and communicate problems and issues that occur during the support hours in accordance with the defined procedures 
  • Review, troubleshoot, and respond to events reflected in various management tools 
  • Escalate issues involving performance of the operating environment 
  • Coordinate efforts with other work centers and personnel to resolve incidents or events related to systems and supporting infrastructure 
  • Supports additional customer systems and environments as required 
  • Maintain scheduling, restart/rerun, tape management and reports database software to include: adding new users, performing backups and restores, assisting System Programmers and DBA’s during product upgrades and testing upgrades.
  • Assisting users and customers with technical questions and problem resolution issues.
  • Training the operations staff, customers and internal users on new products and procedures.
  • Maintain user's guides and production control procedures.
  • Provide 24x7 on call support. 

Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelors degree; HS degree and 4 + years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • Must have experience with a batch job scheduling package
  • Experience working in a mission critical, 24/7 environment
  • Experience working with a systems monitoring tool Understanding of principles, practices, and administration of technical data center related issues
  • Experience using a problem ticketing system
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and teamwork
  • Self-motivated, willing to jump in and take initiative when problems or issues arise without being prompted
  • Excellent communication and listening skills  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the following batch job scheduling tools: CA Workload Automation CA-7 Edition Experience with the following CA administrative tools: CA-1 Tape Management CA-11 Automated Rerun and Tracking CA-View Output Archive and Retrieval Experience with IBM mainframe JCL – z/OS
