Summary:
In this position, the candidate will act as a principal role within the software development team and shall contribute to developing products, teams, and tactics for the organization. More specifically, success in this role requires the candidate to raise-the-bar in terms of what quality looks like and how it is achieved. This role will push the program to continuously evolve, teammates to grow and unlock their strengths, and to iteratively develop/release products to production in order to capture value faster.

Additionally, the candidate will be required to develop an understanding of the complex requirements across the portfolio, and identify, advise, and enact trade-offs that advance the AIMS program towards its strategic targets—while delivering value today.

As a Principal, Full-Stack Software Developer in an Agile Program, the candidate will provide hands-on development, and technical leadership to the program. Core responsibilities include: 
To develop products. Apply one’s full-stack software development expertise on the most critical, and high-visibility products 
• To continuously raise-the-bar. Model high performance and establish higher expectations and capability into the program, the teammates, and the products
• To discover. Conduct research on and connect with industry to emerging technologies, methodologies, and behaviors that can increase value delivery rate of the program
• To mentor. To multiply one's impact by persistently increasing the program’s full-stack talent; with emphasis on cloud-only and/or mobile-first capabilities


Other Responsibilities Include: 
• To innovate. Identifying new product opportunities that leverage the differentiating capabilities of analytics 
• To manage expectations. Support the Analytics & Information Management Services engagement pipeline by scoping new work for technical complexity, effort, and achievability by the organization
• To contribute knowledge. Support knowledge management and knowledge sharing activities
 
Prerequisites:
Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 12 or more years’ or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 
•Minimum 14 years of experience in software development including architecture, software design, and development 
•Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences 
•Minimum 5 years of experience developing user interfaces 
•Ability to quickly understand new technologies and cultivate technology insertion plans 
•Expertise in Full-Stack Development: HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, XSL, JSON, Java, Python, SQL, Object-Oriented Programming Paradigm, Creational Patterns 
•Minimum 5 years of experience developing software products in a cloud computing environment such as: Amazon EC2, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, etc.
•Experience mentoring junior developers 
•Experience leading high impact, high visibility projects 
•Experience leading full-stack development, including front-end, back-end, deployment and scaling 
•Experience leading in an Agile software development methodology environment 
•Experience with DevOps, Extreme Programming (XP), and Lean Start-Up practices, continuous integration and delivery, Blue/Green deployment, deploying to cloud environments 
•Experience in end-user analytics and data-driven decision making for prioritization 

•Minimum 3 years of experience developing and leading strategy
•Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Portfolio Management

•Experience working directly with clients 
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Experience training and/or mentoring in a technical environment 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 
•Familiarity or experience with: jQuery, REACT, Materialize, Oracle, Node.js, AngularJS, MongoDB, Apache, Spring MVC, Elasticsearch, Cloud Foundry/AWS/Azure/GCP 
•Capability to teach/implement Agile, and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies 
•Capability to teach/implement strategies of User Centric Design, Mobile First Design 
•Capability to teach/implement architectural leadership in developing microservices, code reuse 
•Capability to teach/implement Cloud-Only approach, and 12-Factor App methodologies 
•Capability to teach/implement and advise teams on Test Driven Development, Acceptance-Test Driven Development, Pair Programing, Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery Practices 
•Capability to differentiate between project & product management 

•Capability to provide leadership to a global portfolio & organization 
•Application development targeting mobile devices (Web and/or native application [e.g. Android]) 
•Experience with analytics methodologies, probability theory, data visualization, and an aptitude for data-driven decision making
