Essential Job Functions:

In this role, you will be working within the Obsolescence Management team. You will be executing design and drafting activities alongside an engineering team, working to provide updates to historical/current part and assembly definitions. This will be accomplished by creating 3D solid models/2D designs and revising engineering drawings:

Product Design Focus

· Interact with client and internal engineering team offsite.

· Present work to clients at product reviews.

· Leverage detailed working knowledge of historical and current ASME drafting practices.

· Create sketches and solid models of design concepts

· Generate new design concepts to provide engineering solutions

· Be responsible for design configuration; weight, assembly, and manufacturability requirements

· Utilize your familiarity with data configuration management and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and tools.

· Evaluate non-conformances with respect to fit, form, and function

· Leverage knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing techniques (castings, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding, sheet metal/composite forming and joining, metal tube bending), and industry standards

General Responsibilities

· Learn, understand, and apply our client’s standard design procedures

· Make design change recommendations, document the work, and present the findings to our clients

· Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and take ownership for implementation

· Support implementation of operational improvements through changes to product flow, quality improvements, and cycle time reduction.

· Review quality defects to identify process improvements. Characterize failures and resolve recurring problems through mistake-proofing.

· Identify areas for improved product manufacturability, reduced product cost, or improved product reliability.

· As needed, work with suppliers or other centers to correct problems or initiate improvements in accordance with manufacturability, and reliability improvement projects.

· Improve / Generate work instructions to help with repeatability of tasks

Specialized Knowledge / Skills

· Experience with Pro Engineer (Wildfire 4.0 or higher) is desired

· Experience using Teamcenter software (PLM) is preferred

· A working knowledge of mechanical assembly is required.

· Experience with electrical drafting (LabVIEW or comparable software) is desired, but not required

Education, Training, and Experience

· AS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or comparable technical field is required

· 2-4 years of experience in 2D drafting and 3D solid modeling is required

· General knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing techniques (castings, turning, coatings, milling, EDM, welding, sheet metal/composite forming and joining, metal tube bending), and industry standards is desired

· Familiarity with the aerospace industry is preferred

· General knowledge of GD&T and ability to perform tolerance stacks is preferred

· Proficiency with the MS Office software is required

· Knowledge of applicable export and ITAR regulations is preferred
