Avionics System Integration Engineer

Description:
The position requires a demonstrated ability to design, develop, integrate, and qualify an Avionics system on a helicopter program. The candidate will have the technical responsibility of system requirements development, supplier(s) subsystem design and development, system integration and hardware qualification activities. Substantial knowledge of avionics subsystem theory of operation with a demonstrated ability of these principles is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

1.Support the full life cycle of systems development for avionics products including concept design, system architecture, definition and management of requirements, modeling and simulation, managing suppliers, managing cost and schedule, sub-system and aircraft integration, verification, and flight testing
2.Work within an Avionics development team to define, develop specifications, develop interface control documents, verify and qualify an integrated system solution for military and/or commercial aircraft.
3.Contribute and participate in technical reviews of military and/or commercial avionics systems
4.Interface with customers, partner companies, suppliers, and other technical leaders within Sikorsky
5.Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as subsystem avionics product groups and third party suppliers
6.Provide technical support for the system safety and certification processes for military and/or commercial avionics systems
7.Lead activities such as; failure Investigations, root causes analysis and implementation of corrective actions, lesson learned, issues and design standards updates
8.Provide Engineering support, within one’s specialty, to teams working on performance, cost reduction and quality initiatives
*Education / Certifications
Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and 6-10+ years’ experience
*Experience / Qualifications
Must be effective working in highly collaborative team environment to accomplish program objectives.
◦Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.
◦Working expertise in the design, analysis, development and operation of aircraft systems and avionics sub-systems.
•Skills/Knowledge Preferred:
◦Minimum of 6-10+ years of technical experience in Avionics Systems or related product design and development
◦Minimum of 6-10+ years of technical experience in Avionics Systems and sub-systems requirements definition, design, architecture, integration, verification, and qualification
◦Strong Computer skills: WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, VISIO, DOORS
◦Knowledge/familiarity of Military and/or FAA Certification Standards
◦Working knowledge of EVMS / Control Account Management
◦Strong knowledge of Mil Standards, Digital Busses architecture (Ethernet, ARINC-429, MIL-STD- 1553)
