Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Fort Worth, TX



You will be an integrated software team member collaborating with System, Hardware, and Test engineers in one or more of the phases of, Design Development, Integration and Testing. You will apply your skills to develop high-quality real-time embedded software on airborne platforms that will be used to prove, and valid autonomous algorithms targeted towards the V-247.

Duties include developing complex autonomous software architecture and designs on projects.  You will contribute to the overall software quality by applying best-practice software engineering methods, including code-reviews, design guidelines, refactoring, unit and regression testing

You will help develop integrated sensor data collection, processing, and fusion to enable Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) mission performance in complex environments including; GPS denied, contested, degraded communications, commercial airspace and degraded visual environment.

You will be involved in the evaluation of complex autonomous software designs to identify design flaws. You will be involved in the development of C/C++ real-time, embedded software, utilizing sound Object Oriented principles and conforming to existing code development strategies and processes.  You will be working in an Agile development environment.   

You will prepare design documentation intended to be used within complex programs or across sets of programs in accordance with established processes. You will utilize either a Windows PC or Linux based software development environment. Embedded targets could range from PowerPC to the latest technologies. You will be integrating and testing in the selected target test environments.

You will be reporting to a Software Technical Lead.

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 6 years work experience or equivalent experience

Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Scientific degree with suitable software engineering content, with 6+ years of experience or Master's degree in the same fields with 4+ years’ of related experience or PhD in the same fields with 2+ years related experience.



Need to be proficient in:

C
C++
Real-time Embedded development
Object Oriented Design/Development
Linux OS
Version Control and Problem Tracking
Continuous Integration Tools
Unit Testing

Prefer Proficiency in:

Python 
Version Control and Problem Tracking (Git, Jira, GForge, PVCS. )
Agile development (Scrum)


Must be a US Citizen.

Local candidates preferred.
