Technical Writer

We are currently seeking a Technical Writer for our Wright Patterson Air Force Base (AFB), OH location.

Collect drawings, photos, and technical information to comprehensively organize and write technical material using advanced knowledge of the entire MS Office Suite.
Collaborate with all functional engineering groups to develop a thorough understanding of our products, capabilities, and processes.

Lead in the development and revision control of manuals, procedures, deliverables, reports, and other technical documentation.

Support Program Managers and Integrated Product Teams in the development of deliverables documentation.

Review current program management documents, procedures, publications, manuals, and technical data to recommend document revisions, changes in approach, scope, formatting, test, methods of production, and distribution of materials.

Track and facilitate document revisions based on configuration changes, customer feedback, etc.

Development of technical presentations and graphics.

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience (English, Technical Communication, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in technical writing including developing communications deliverables such as web application/engineering documentation, operational procedures, and plans.
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, organize, write, and edit operational procedures and manuals using fluid technical writing and editing skills.
Ability to maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation and manage updates and revisions to technical literature.
Ability to analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content and able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences.
Ability to independently gather information from subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop, organize, and write articles and technical documents.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to coordinate with team members to collect technical data and organize it into an appropriate written format.
Excellent listener with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
High level of autonomy to meet deadlines and program goals
Availability to travel up to 5% of the time.

Additional Desired Skills:
Experience creating PDFs or other smart form applications.
Familiarity working in APA and ANSI style and with Adobe/Microsoft suites.
Experience with Media editing Software Experience (photography, graphic and layout designs)
Experience using and navigating DoD Publications.
Experience in the development of written bids and proposals.
Experience with research and technology writing.
