SR Systems Manager

Description:
General Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible to manage the System Engineering team. Particular emphasis is placed upon the development of commercial avionics equipment including: software defined radios, audio equipment, communication/navigation, connected aircraft, airborne servers, transponders, and similar hardware. This role will be required to support the future growth of the business by leading and designing new products and by driving the continuous improvement of existing products. The manager will be a key interface into the Product Line Management team and a technical interface for customers. The manager must be able to perform Systems Engineering tasks/documents, as well as manage a team of engineers.



Key/Core Qualifications:

Shown ability to develop system level designs
Proven ability to manage a System Engineering Team to develop new product designs and sustainment objectives
Experience with DO-178B development, DO-254, and DO-160 Qualification Testing
Understanding of DO-186, APCO Project 25, TIA-102
Experience with the following System level activities:
Developing System level architectures
Translate/create customer/industry/market requirements to system level requirements
Allocate system level requirements into hardware and software requirements
FMEA and safety analysis
Timeline/latency analysis
Creation of Interface Control Documents
Perform trade studies
System level verification & verification
Experience with developing a standard development process within the team
Experience interfacing with customers
Experience with customer and/or FAA audits
Design experience of software defined mission/tactical radios, on-board avionic computing platforms/servers, and/or Com/Nav designs
Manages to schedules and metrics
BS EE or equivalent.
15+ years of experience in avionics development
5+ years formally managing a systems development team


Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to coordinate and manage Bid and Proposals (ROMs, RFI, RFP, etc)
Ability to develop system level designs and mature them through appropriate R&D efforts
Experience transitioning new products into the factory
Experience interfacing with the factory and a Repair & Overhaul organization to support sustaining products
Experience with Requirement Management tools
Ability to create, implement, and/or modify engineering processes
Understanding of Design-to-Cost and Design-for-Manufacturability
RF design knowledge
Software Defined Radio waveform definition
Commercial encryption knowledge (AES, DES, P25, Tetra, etc)
RTOS experience
Able to interface with the business development team to support/create product line roadmaps
Knowledge of the following technologies/skills is a plus:
3G/4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Codec, DSP, touch screen displays, Mesh radio’s, IMA/MAU/Card file designs, and human factors
General Avionics or helicopter pilot experience
