Location: Mojave, CA
Contract duration: 9+ months
Pay rate: 65-80/hr

Pneumatics Design Engineer

The Pneumatics Design Engineer will design and analyze the engine bleed air / pneumatics system for the aircraft. The work will include specification and testing of flexible couplings, calculation of thermal expansion effects, and verification that the system and its attachment to the aircraft can accommodate the resulting forces and displacements. The individual will also work with the test team to develop a test plan to verify the system integrity and functionality in nominal and off nominal conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
·       Conceptual design, structural layout, sizing, and detail design
·       System analysis including flow, thermal expansion, and pressurization effects
·       Stress analysis
·       System attach / interface to the aircraft
·       Supporting ground and flight test planning, test execution, and aircraft modifications
Required:
·       A strong understanding of the theory and practical application of mechanical systems, structure, and performance
·       An understanding of the basics of composite construction and assembly
·       Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills
·       Proficiency in 3D CAD
·       Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule
·       A minimum of three years of directly related work experience
·       Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution
·       Proof of U.S. Citizenship
Desired:
·       Proficiency in Catia V5 or Solidworks
·       Rapid prototyping experience
·       Aircraft homebuilding experience or other hands-on design or build experience
·       Additional degrees or additional relevant work experience
Essential job functions:
·       Occasionally required to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time
·       Manual dexterity and coordination are required (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
·       Requires mobility (e.g., climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl)
·       Requires the ability to bend and reach
·       Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
·       Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus
