Hydraulics and Landing Gear Engineer
Location: Mojave, CA
Duration: 12+ months contract
Rate: Up to 65/hr
Overtime potential
Per diem if you qualify

Company is seeking an experienced Hydraulic Engineer with experience in Aircraft Mechanical Systems and Aircraft landing gear design background. The primary task of this role engineering role will be to develop and refine system level requirements and engineering design for all hydraulic systems and landing gear, including components and rolling stock
Key Components
Perform CATIA modeling and model validation
Perform component testing and writing flight testing plans
Evaluate the aircraft hydraulic system's functionality, failures and system design
Evaluate the current aircraft's landing gear design for suitability to the mission with new designs
Conduct reliability analysis on hydraulic aircraft systems and components
Evaluate data from the initial program build for verification and validation purposes and identify further testing or development work
Work closely with the pilots of the vehicles to ensure the hydraulic and landing gear meet the customer requirements
Review update and compile engineering definition of related aircraft mechanical system components and assemblies based on records from the initial build project
Ability to review hydraulic and landing gear schematics and designs quickly to solve problems or to find opportunities to improve systems design
Have a keen understanding of hydraulic system components and landing gear kinematics
Ability to assess the needs of the task and carry out the necessary course of action with minimal supervision. He/she must possess the technical background, organizational and interpersonal skills to work with other groups, suppliers and customers
Develop standardized design criteria and templates using model based definition practices
Establish Product Lifecycle Management architecture using PLM and ERP software
Support review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with design requirements
Support the creation of system test plans which will be used to verify manufacturing processes meet design intent and requirements
Confer with management, systems safety, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
Key Requirements
Professional Requirements
Proven experience in aircraft hydraulic systems/landing gear design operation and troubleshooting
5-7 years engineering experience in similar role
Background which includes system certification with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as well as other certification authorities
Experience with computer modeling of landing gear systems and components including model validation
Experience with simulation software such as Simulink or Flowmaster
Experience in progressing hydraulic systems from design to implementation in a very short period of time
Experience in aircraft mechanical system design, assembly and test processes
CAD experience
Excellent Organizational Skills and problem-solving skills
Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Knowledge of FAA part 25/23 FARs and other aircraft standards a plus. Experience with manufacturing- based ERP systems a plus

Bachelorâ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
