Location: Mojave, CA
Contract duration: 9+ months
Pay Rate: 65-80/hr

Composite Design/Analysis Engineer

Summary:
The Composite Design Engineer will design and analyze composite parts and oversee their fabrication and assembly into the vehicle. Qualified individuals will work with stress analysts to determine the loads for their parts, but will be responsible for the analysis required to demonstrate acceptable structural margins of the part and joints.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Conceptual design, structural layout, sizing, and detail design
• Ability to understand and design for primary and secondary load paths
• Stress analysis using classical and finite element methods
• Laminate analysis and sizing
• 3D and 2D definition of parts, assemblies and installations

Required:
• Foundation knowledge of aircraft load paths and structural sizing
• An expert understanding of the theory and practical application of composite structures and their application to aircraft
• A strong understanding of composite manufacturing and assembly
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong team player
• Proficiency in 3D Computer Aided Design
• Ability to work in multiple engineering disciplines on an aggressive schedule
• A minimum of three years of directly related work experience
• Bachelor of Science in a relevant engineering discipline from an accredited institution or substantial equivalent experience
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship

Desired:
• Proficiency in Catia V5 or Solidworks
• 2D drawing creation
• Proficiency in FEMAP or other finite element analysis software
• Additional degrees or additional relevant work experience

Essential job functions:
• Occasionally required to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time
• Manual dexterity and coordination are required (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
• Requires mobility (e.g., climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl)
• Requires the ability to bend and reach
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus
