Description: PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a candidate for Quality Technician in Tonawanda, NY.
• Runs daily Quality Team meetings. • Communicates data, feedback, and changes (MOC) at Tier 2 & Tier 3 meetings. • Manages 5S conformance in the lab. Responsible for following up on weekly audits by operations and Leadership, and completing corrective actions based on audit findings. • Leads training of new employees on quality requirements. • Recognizes out-of-standard conditions on the factory floor and coordinates with team leaders and supervisors to address them. • Uses Rapid Problem Solving (RPS) process to troubleshoot issues when necessary. • Has a thorough understanding of the order of operations as well as the necessary quality checkpoints throughout the production process. • Understands the plant priorities. • Understands job work orders and production sequence. Can provide correct specifications to the appropriate cells. • Performs functional and visual testing of in-process and finished goods as required by quality procedures and specifications. • Prepares and delivers samples to external mechanical testing laboratory. • Troubleshoots and maintains lab equipment. Coordinates with site maintenance department and contractors to ensure minimal downtime of functional testing equipment. • Compiles all test data and prepares project files and releases to customer. • Documents test methods and develops and updates new lab procedures as necessary. • Update quality metric tracking and communicates progress. • Champions change and seeks improvements, while assessing trade-offs to ensure intelligent risk-taking.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Leadership Responsibilities: • Addresses and escalates quality related issues immediately. • Coaches and mentors in HOS behaviors. • Demonstrates leadership in HOS processes. • Addresses all safety issues immediately. • AAS in Technical field. • 3-5 years of experience in quality control of a medium scale production line manufacturing environment. • EPA Certification - Type 2 (High Pressure). • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills. • Must be able to follow pre-established procedures and management instructions. • Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access). • Excellent communication skills, oral, and written. • Competency in basic drawing/print review. • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and with a team. • Must be able to work OT as necessary (24 hour operation).
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with metallurgy and/or heat transfer. • Experienced in Six Sigma and Lean Principles. • Six Sigma Green Belt • Strong leadership standard work. • Proven record of good leadership and time management skills. • Quality Technician Certification (ASQ)
