Description: PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Level 2 for an open position in Syracuse, NY.
Provides Manufacturing Engineering support for Shipping and receiving - stockroom of ASW/EW and/or Ground-based Radar programs.
Provides packaging , shipping , material kitting process guidance in addition to timely problem resolution through root cause and corrective action techniques.
Creates assembly planning based on drawings and solid models, participates in engineering technical reviews, develops methods for transitioning from development to production, identifies opportunities for process improvement, and interfaces with Tech Ops/Design Engineering organization to implement DFA concepts.
Develops tooling and fixturing to improve workflow and reduce injuries.
Supports Quality improvements and determines root cause/corrective actions in order to improve defect/rework/scrap/yield metrics.
Supports product sell-off, including interfacing with DCMA and/or customer as appropriate.
Actively participates in initiatives to improve IME (overhead) rate. Identifies, manages, and implements capital projects in support of assigned programs.
May be required to develop cost estimates in support of proposals, and target times in support of production control.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, parts lists, and military specifications.
Experience with mechanical/electrical assembly.
Ability to create Manufacturing planning/processes from generalized assembly drawings.
Demonstrated capability to multitask in support of multiple concurrent programs and initiatives
This requires US citizenship.
Packaging and shipping standards , Mil spec packaging, commercial packaging Lean or Six Sigma blackbelt or equivalent.
Change management experience, including initiating documentation changes and interpreting change management as it applies to work in process.
Solder training/certification to IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or equivalent. 3D solid modeling (ProE or SolidWorks) and/or AutoCad competency.
Ability to create and work to detailed, task-oriented schedules.
Working knowledge of SAP.
Exposure to additive manufacturing or 3D printing technologies.
Familiarity with electrical, fiber optic, RF test equipment and protocols.
Solid trouble-shooting methodology to reduce downtime.
