Design Engineer

Description:
Seeking a Design Engineer for an opening in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Design Engineer will work closely with Design Engineering, Certification, Program Management, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain.

-Define and design the product under the responsibility of the Project Engineer/Engineering Manager/Program.
-Can get the functional lead of Design Engineer under the supervision of his/her Manager.
-Be responsible of establishment of the whole definition documentary.

Establish and develop the product definition justification using specific design tools for his/her own work and part of his/her perimeter (CAD, mechanical calculation tools, etc. ...). Some specific tools may be subject specialization of some Design Engineer (eg Tool routing specific cable, ...).
Communicate to the industrialization on time the necessary information to integrate in the ERP.
Keep Updated product definition justification.
Investigate the requests for product evolution overlooked known issues and process these requests (after approval by CCB) Investigate requests changes order for CCB and provide maximum of information. He/she is not within his/her responsibility to approve only the proposed changes.
Ensure the application of quality processes.
Realize all necessary controls to validate his/her work and ensure archiving results (T/Sup, calculations, Mom, etc ...).
Distribute the activity within the functional working group (technical contractor included).
Ensure overlooked his/her hierarchy the delay, technical and cost target.
Be able to propose a monitoring and technical summary.
Propose and generate ideas of design and architecture in offer phase or preliminary conception.
Establish or organize the part and product detailed design in compliance with the specifications and objectives defined.
Ensure the design interface with the rest of IPT and external stakeholders.
Initiate meetings necessary to validate the work. (3d, drawings reviews) Initiate test request. (validation) Track and organize any occasions definition linked to the first steps of the product (FAI monitoring, service return, ...) Maintain in condition and consistency the product definition documentary.
Follow technological developments and support preliminary studies if necessary (evolution products, anticipation of obsolescence and new regulations).
Contribute to update the development schedule Report any drift in objectives to Project Engineer and engineering Manager as well as Industrialization manager.
Participate in Product and or Process FMEA for sub-assemblies.
Contribute to the development of the Justification of product definition and guarantee the quality of its content in accordance with the Project Engineer.
Ask internal or external experts support for any activity outside his/her competence (R&T, internal and external suppliers ...) Apply procedures related to its field.
Participate in progress actions of his/her team, especially design methodology.
Participate in the training of new arrival.
Ensure the back-up (replacement) of a person in his/her department

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Design skills
Tolerance stackup
GD&T
Proven problem solving skills
Proficient with MS Office
Able to multi-task
Proficient with Catia, Autocad
Proficient with DocsVision, Smarteam

Ability to read and review written communication.
Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.
Must be able to speak publicly and give presentations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors, and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, typing, ten key, fax, copy machine etc. Bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
