Sheet Metal Foreman

Description:

  • Read and interpret Contract, Architectural, Structural and Mechanical Drawings.

  • Read and interpret Specifications, Submittals and Shop Drawings.

  • Understanding of SMACNA Standards for Fabrication and Installation.

  • Possess current certifications to operate Forklifts, Scissor lifts and Boom lifts.

  • Received 30hr OSHA Certification.

  • Perform site and/or drawing layout of HVAC systems.

  • Coordinates with CAD Department if required.

  • Possess current City Of Phoenix Journeyman's License.

  • Assist the Superintendent in Preplanning for projects assigned listing the following but not limited to:

    1. Labor requirements.

    2. On site dates for Equipment, Fabricated Duct and Store Bought Materials.

    3. Specifications for Duct Fabrication and Installation.

    4. Rental Requirements.






  • Identifies Labor, Materials, Equipment Rentals, and cost to complete documents when requested.

  • Updates weekly progress on Contract Drawings.

  • Orders all shop fabrication and store bought materials per standards.

  • Maintains Daily Work Reports and any other daily or weekly project paperwork as required.

  • Assists with hands-on-training of co-workers.

  • All other duties as assigned.











ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND BASIC DUTIES




MEETINGS




  • Attends pre-job and post-job meetings as scheduled in the office.

  • Attends pre-job and weekly coordination meetings with general contractors and subcontractors as directed by the Superintendent/Project Manager.

  • Conducts weekly Safety meetings, and documents attendees and safety topics.




RFI




  • Informs Superintendent/Project Manager of any change in scope of work and assist in RFI's.




EQUIPMENT / MATERIAL DELIVERY




  • Requests delivery dates for material and equipment with Project Manager/Superintendent and request necessary daily and weekly material.

  • Coordinates delivery requests with other Foremen and answers any questions concerning material.




MATERIAL TAKE-OFF




  • Provides information to Superintendent for material and labor needed for completion of the job.

  • Determines appropriate crew size and material needs for each project for 2-week short-interval schedule.




QUALITY CONTROL




  • Ensures that quality control is performed during the construction process.

  • Performs all work while conforming to all Corporate Policy and Procedures.

  • Maintains positive relations with Client Owner and advises Project Manager/Superintendent of any potential problems.




CHANGE ORDERS




  • Confirms that a signed change order is in place and properly documented before ordering any materials or starting any additional scope of work.

  • Ensures that change order work is completed in a timely manner.




JOBSITE VISITS




  • Is on jobsites daily to perform job tasks as directed by Superintendent.




PURCHASING




  • Determines what material and equipment needs to be purchased with Project Manager/ Superintendent.




COORDINATION WITH SUPERINTENDENT / PROJECT MANAGER




  • Coordinates Client, tools, and equipment with Superintendent.

  • Reviews and monitors labor hours and projections with Project Manager/Superintendent.

  • Verifies that all material has been delivered to the job site; verify all material counts with receiving documents.

  • Processes and returns all packing slips to accounting on a weekly basis.

  • Provides input into project scheduling with General Contractor, Superintendent, and Project Manager as directed.




MEETING COORDINATION




  • Coordinates meetings with Superintendent to set project goals.

  • Reviews on a two week interval with Superintendent prior to start date.




Client




  • Evaluates performance of employees with Superintendent.

  • Evaluates performance of subcontractors with Project Manager and Superintendent.

  • Assists in employee evaluations as requested by Superintendent.

  • Suggests training topics for employees assigned to his work crew.




WEEKLY PAPERWORK




  • Ensures all daily corporate documentation is complete and submitted, including timesheets, receiving documents, job diaries, safety reports, etc.




PROJECT STARTUP




  • Responsible for job startup being done in a proper and efficient manner and keeping the Project Manage/Superintendent informed of closeout status.

  • Coordinates all startup procedures including development of punch lists and final test/balance of system with service.




CLOSE-OUT




  • Responsible for As-Built drawings and coordinating procedures.

  • Responsible for Punch List completion and sign-off.




SAFETY




  • Responsible for knowing, understanding and following all written Safety Procedures as documented in the Company Safety Handbook or elsewhere.

  • Acts as a Safety Officer on site to ensure employees are following safe work practices and wearing appropriate PPE.




AUTHORITY


Foremen do not have the authority to enforce any management policies including but not limited to:


  • Interviewing, hiring, and/or recommending or approving employee transfers.

  • Evaluating performance of employees.

  • Granting wage increases, promotions, or rewards to employees.

  • Issuing verbal or written discipline.

  • Transferring, suspending, or discharging employees.

  • Laying off or recalling employees

  • Assigning or directing employees' work outside the scope of your assigned jobsite, or requesting or assigning overtime hours outside standard jobsite procedures.

  • Adjusting or resolving employee grievances.




The above list of management duties are to be executed at a Superintendent level at a minimum.


QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a high school diploma and/or equivalent sheet metal work experience.




REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of general office procedures, record keeping functions and some knowledge of related computer applications.



EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Six (6) years of experience in related field.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Well organized, accurate and attentive to detail. Excellent

communication and public relation abilities. Ability to assist and support others.



OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have at the time of application or promotion and must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
