Repair Operator - Repair Operator

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Repair Operator, in Melbourne, FL
Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs a variety of duties necessary to construct mechanical assemblies within a team environment. 
  • Performs a variety of complex mechanical assembly tasks following workmanship standards.
  • Read mechanical drawings and complete desired assemblies
  • Work with complex electro-mechanical assemblies; may require the ability to work with torque wrenches or torque tools and/or measurement equipment. 
  • Following/reading engineering drawings, wiring schematics, and written work instructions to complete subassemblies and top-level assemblies.
  • Required to use various tools to assemble and rework a variety of parts/assemblies and perform required assembly operations to meet quality standards.
  • Inspects own work performed to insure a quality product which conforms to workmanship standards and engineering requirements.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures in the manufacturing process
  • Work in a safe manner, per client Environmental Health and Safety policies.
  • Required to enter time in FIT timekeeping system, charging time to programs being worked and time/attendance.
  • Flexibility to support production schedule including overtime hours and alternate shift hours.
  • May be required to perform additional duties/responsibilities.
  • Quality - able to achieve and maintain Certified Quality Self Inspection (CQSI), possibly on multiple processes, and can/does mentor other team members with quality issues
  • Performance - consistently exceeds productivity expectations, is extensively cross-trained on multiple assemblies, able to be a cell or plant floater
  • Attendance - is a role model for regular and reliable attendance
  • Communication/Teaming - is an active team member who promotes teamwork, can mentor other employees and may take a leadership role on the team


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency

Candidate should have:

  • Experience assembling relatively complex electro-mechanical systems, (i.e. electric motors, turbines, combustion engines, marine power supplies, machine tools, rotational machinery, aircraft systems, refrigeration systems), etc.
  • Prior machine shop experience as a machine operator, set-up technician, inspector
  • Ability to read and follow mechanical type assembly drawings and work instructions
  • Familiarity with torque wrenches, general measurement/inspection equipment, (i.e. dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, etc.)


  • Experience with torque tools
  • Experience with leadscrew drive assemblies
  • Experience with gantry's or overhead cranes
  • General Machine Shop knowledge
  • Familiarity with mechanical drawings and assemblies
