Flight Test Mechanical Engineer

Description:
Role Description
 
As part of a multicultural team, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and integration of experimental installations to support flight testing aircraft. Creating engineering drawings, instructions, and procedures with limited guidance. This position will require coordination with flight operations, project, and engineering teams to support safe testing.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Incorporate design modifications, generating 2D definitions, and 3D models with CATIA
  • Responsible for integration with aircraft mechanical systems
  • Peer drawing review, checking, and following the release cycle of engineering documents.
  • Communicate and coordinate with technical disciplines, such as manufacturing, tooling, stress, structures, hydraulics, weights, pneumatics, and aerodynamics
  • Daily collaboration to resolve design conflicts and inferences
  • Disposition and troubleshoot faulty mechanical systems with technician assistance
  • Support manufacturing process for flight test equipment
  • Provide technical input to project and engineering teams to achieve business goals
  • Creation of work orders, workbooks, and installation instructions
  • Author certification reports, and coordinate with certification authorities


Qualifications
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience with Mechanical design, stress analyses, qualification testing.
  • Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to defuse and resolve conflict among other team members
  • Ability to specify mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipment.
  • Must be capable and comfortable working within a diverse team environment
