Mechanical Design Engineer (CATIA) Roseville CA

Description:

Mechanical Engineer II/III Contract – 6 month:
• Design Mechanical Subsystems including linkages, structures, joints, etc.
• Work with CAD Designers to detail subsystem designs
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability (including tolerance stackups/GD&T application) and requirements compliance
• Conduct basic structural and dynamics evaluations to drive design work
• Generate and maintain technical data packages for delivery to customers
• Assist electrical team in mechanical integration/packaging of avionics to ensure environmental requirements are met

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Designs and drafts components, assemblies and tooling, commensurate with level of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Confers with design originator, appropriate engineering and other personnel in preparing and finalizing design concepts.
• Prepares preliminary sketches, models, or diagrams reflecting basic design concept.
• Using appropriate software, prepares sketches, models and/or complete detail and layout drawings from verbal or written instructions on products and/or equipment.
• Recommends changes or modifications as appropriate.
• Prepares and models final layout, detail and assembly drawings.
• Prepares, revises and processes the generation of the graphical portion of Engineering Change Notices for jobs.
• Works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements.
• Follows safety precautions.
• Ensures that the work area and equipment are kept clean.
• Complies with established QMS procedures.
• Works under limited supervision.
• Performs work of proficient complexity.
• Conducts stress analysis using basic calculations.
• Ensures that assigned design efforts achieve project objectives for scheduling, engineering output, and quality.
• May act liaison with engineering, suppliers, and customers.
• Creates methods to monitor and control key variables or characteristics on specific design projects and reports progress periodically.
• Supports business development efforts by preparing graphics for quotes and proposals.

Typical Qualifications:
• Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient knowledge of CATIA/SolidWorks
o Drafting
o Modeling
o Surfacing
o Composite Modeler and Drafter.
• 4-6 years related experience.
• Proficient knowledge of GD&T.
• Familiar with AutoCAD.
• Able to set up basic CAD standards.
• Proficient with hydraulics and tube bending.
• Familiar with aircraft control systems, and powerplants.
• Proficient MS Project.

Additional Desired Skills:
• Exceptional CATIA V-5 skills
• 10K hour’s minimum preferred.
• Smart team experience.
• Experience working in R&D environment
