Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanics

Description:
STS Technical Services is currently hiring Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanics for open positions in Duluth, Minnesota.

Summary:
This is an opportunity to join the Experimental Engineering team which is tasked with the development of new components and technologies intended for evaluation on next generation aircraft.

Job Duties:
The primary responsibility of the Experimental Fabrication Sheet Metal Technician will be to fabricate parts, assemblies, and systems with a variety of materials, processes, and equipment.
This position places a premium on the individual to be constantly learning new methods, application of new industry technologies, and providing long term value to the company.
The individual must be self-motivated, have a high degree of integrity, strong verbal skills, and be very comfortable working with a highly diverse cross functional team.
Must have the ability to build parts to print (+/- 0.010 tolerance)
Possess a broad skillset used to fabricate aircraft parts
Work from mental concepts, verbal instructions, hand-sketches, or blueprints
Select methods and materials to ensure the part meets the final design criteria
Envision the full process of the build – layout through completion
Must have the ability to fabricate to print and verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments
Properly use hand tools as well as operate brake, shear, shrinker/stretcher
Use a variety of manual and pneumatic riveting equipment: squeezes, guns, and bucking bars
Safely use, grinders, sanders, power tools, etc…
Collaborate with a wide audience to develop technologies and designs
Possess strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail
Qualifications:
5-7 years of combined schooling and industry experience.
Aerospace or manufacturing sheet metal fabrication, Industrial or Machine Technology degrees preferred.
Additional consideration will be given to the candidate who possess knowledge of CNC press brake programming and operation as well as experience with custom sheet metal forming
Airframe & Powerplant considered a plus.
Computer Skills Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must.
Knowledge of CAD-CAM software (PTC Creo) is preferred
