Job Listing Description

As a Design Checker II, you will assist with examining engineering drawings/models and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design. These cover a very wide range, from state of the art mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll be responsible to ensure drawing completeness, clarity, dimensional accuracy, ASME Y14.5 conformance and conformity to design/drafting standards and specifications. You'll help to identify design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements in designs.

Must-haves:

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 3 years of relevant experience

A higher level degree may substitute for experience

Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices

Experience with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5 GD&T) principles

Experience collaborating with teams on various projects

Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware and or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes

Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools

Preferred:

Exposure to Documentation Control Database and/or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) Systems

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense and/or US Military
