Description:



  • Mechanical Engineer is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of complex test equipment solutions, hardware and software, for use in testing Electro-mechanical Systems and Cabin Systems products in support of Engineering, Operations, Service locations and airline customers.

  • The Mechanical Engineer will take direction from the Test Equipment Senior Engineering Manager to complete test equipment bids, define requirements, development activities, integration, validation, documentation, project execution and Test Engineering supporting efforts. 


 


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 



  • Lead the development of test equipment hardware and software for testing both new and legacy products. This includes Planning, design, integrate, verification, validation, and documentation activities for relatively simple to moderately difficult test solutions for both new and legacy products.

  • Develop test solutions bids by providing accurate cost and schedule estimates along with technical descriptions of proposed test solutions.

  • Follow Life Cycle Test Strategy Development guidelines to provide cost effective test solutions utilizing modularity and reuse whenever possible.

  • Perform concurrent test development with product development by coordinating with product development teams to direct design for testability, documenting test requirements, and generating test procedures for final product acceptance.

  • Work with Operations and Engineering to develop test solutions required for Qualification and Acceptance testing, and ESS/HASS/HALT testing the product in accordance with manufacturing test plans. 

  • Provide prompt test equipment support for legacy systems for Operations, Service locations and Product Support to minimize product stop shipments.

  • Support outsourcing efforts per ARINC-625 test equipment development outsourcing standard along with Rockwell Collins policies and procedures.


 


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 



  • Must be capable of requirements generation, development, design, and drafting of complex test equipment utilized for testing of electromechanical aerospace products including; flap actuation systems, Horizontal Trim Stabilizer Actuators (HSTA's), and Pilot Controls Systems. Candidate should be experience with product testing which includes manufacturing assembly and test, Endurance and Fatigue testing based on customer requirements. Must have in-depth understanding of both MIL-STD-810 (military) and RTCA/DO-160 (commercial) specifications and ARINC 625-2 (Test Equipment Development). 

  • Must have an in-depth understanding of following principals and equipment: Kinematics, metallurgic properties, stress and structural analysis, RVDT's, LVDT's, load cells, load cell amplifiers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), DC Brushless Motors/ Controllers and National Instruments data control/acquisition hardware and associate software. 

  • Must have experience using electrical, mechanical and hydraulic test measurement equipment, Ansys 4.5, Unigraphics NX6, Autocad, and Solid Works Mechanical Design software and desktop PC applications programs including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and MS Project. Additionally, experience in programming while using National Instruments Labview for Windows, C, C++, C# programming is a plus.
