Flight Test Engineer – Patuxent River, Maryland

Tasking is in support of the Integrated Systems Evaluation Experimentation and Test (ISEET) Mission Systems Department at NAWCAD Patuxent River, MD and the E-2D Integrated Test Team. The ideal candidate will support the ground and flight testing of avionics weapons systems to include Mission Computer, Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) and tactical datalinks. Other testing may include hardware and software components related to communication, detection, and navigation subsystems. Principle testing will be at NAWCAD Patuxent River, MD. Selected candidate will support normal test and evaluation requirements to include: test planning meetings, test plan development, event planning, test procedure and card development, flight briefings, test execution, post event support, test reporting and deficiency reporting.

Some travel will be required for remote-site testing.

Required Skills & Experience A Bachelor's in an Engineering or Physics discipline from a school where the specified curriculum was accredited by the ABET and a minimum of five (5) years of practical engineering or test experience is required.

At least 3 years of the foregoing total experience shall have consisted of performing engineering functions with respect to E-2 aircraft avionics support, research or development of electrical systems. Should have experience in naval tactical data links and airborne radar systems.

Selected candidate must be able to work in a rapidly changing flight test environment, must be able to work with minimum supervision and direction, must have good oral and written communication skills, must have excellent organizational skills and must be proficient with Microsoft office applications. Position will also require knowledge of data analysis. Some knowledge of NAVAIR flight test procedures and policies is required.

Desired Skills and Experience A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in testing DOD complex weapon systems or platforms is desired.
