Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

Description:
Chipton-Ross is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for an opening in Anaheim, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The employee will be responsible for organizing and maintaining EHS management of air emission control systems, hazardous waste storage area, waste minimization processes, machine guarding, hoist safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), accident investigations, safety assessments, workers compensation, and other safety functions. Assist in the coordination of EHS regulatory projects and contributes to improvement and cost reductions of EHS programs. EHS Coordinator will support air quality and water quality program compliance and review chemicals, equipment and processes. The employee also performs EHS inspections, planning and implementation of various EHS programs, under moderate supervision. The position requires knowledge in SCAQMD regulations, Cal OSHA regulations, and working closely with Facilities projects.
1. Prepares and completes environmental, health and safety reports, permits, and any other types of EHS requirements/reporting.
2. Assist in the implementation of EHS projects such as hazardous communication training, air inventory logs, hoist safety program, PPE selection, machine guarding, accident investigations, workers compensation, lockout/tagout training, etc.
3. Assist in updating the chemical inventories and maintain all Safety Data Sheets (SDSís).
4. Manages the hazardous materials and waste storage areas; guides receiving and storage of hazardous materials and wastes plus waste minimization projects. Interacts with Treatment Storage Disposal Facilities to profile waste streams.
5. Assists with major environmental activities: emission quantification, South Coast Air Quality Management District activities, and sources reduction.
6. Audits production departments for EHS regulatory compliance. Assist in instructing departmental personnel on the proper handling of chemicals, labeling and disposal of hazardous waste.
7. Maintaining and creating P.O.ís.
8. Performs other duties as required by Management.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
1. Knowledge required must be familiar with federal, state, and local regulations, DOT, and South Coast Air Quality Management District regulations.
2. Knowledge in Microsoft Office.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The EHS Coordinator has the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The EHS Coordinator has the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The EHS Coordinator has the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (storm water sample collection). The employee may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, dust or particles, some chemicals and outside weather conditions. The person may occasionally be exposed to high, precarious places. Recognition of electrical hazards is needed to avoid exposure to potential of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelorís Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field from four-year college or university and/or Certificate in Hazardous Materials Management; minimum 1-3 years related industrial experience and/or training in handling chemicals and EHS issues; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
