Senior IT Systems Administrator

Senior IT Systems Administrator
(US Citizenship Required*)
Hanover, MD
• Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
• Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems
• Serve as a front line interface to users with technical issues
• Make recommendations for hardware and software purchase
• Interact with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
• Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
• Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
• Eesponsible for the day-to-day support of Server services
• Perform Server administration for Server Operating Systems
• Perform administration of physical and virtualized servers
• Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network related interfaces on servers
• Perform OS and vendor software patching on servers
• Monitor Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools
• Perform, maintain, troubleshoot and does analysis of alerts on Servers
• Create scripts to automate repetitive processes
• Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with Servers that are effecting other services
• Contribute and execute plans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies, procedures for servers
• Execute and maintain Security Compliancy processes and policies
• Develop and maintain Server related standards, policies, and procedures
• Mentor team in the technology to allow them to be more knowledgably and self-sufficient
• Review and analyze performance metrics in order to optimize environment for efficiencies
• Implement administration of physical and virtualized servers using industry standard technologies
• Implement administration of servers in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologies
• Show initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little Take ownership of getting project deliverables done on schedule and within budget

• Researche and troubleshoot Server technical issues and communicates status to Server team and stakeholders
• Ensure infrastructure is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs
• Lead medium sized continuous process improvement efforts

• Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with ability to pass/opbtain Polygraph is reqired at time of hire.
• Must successfully pass a credit check.

• Develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity

• Interact with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines
• Requires an advanced understanding of Server based operating systems
• Able to mentor others on administrating the server environment
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with non-technical, technical audiences, and IT leadership
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of individuals including technical and non-technical staff, and IT leadership
• Able to work individually or collaboratively as part of a high-performance team
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and lead team plans for upgrades and system enhancements
• Demonstrated ability to write policies, procedures, and create system documentation
• Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the Server OS as well as both networking and storage technologies
• Must have hands-on experience developing, deploying and supporting large-scale enterprise server solutions
• Leadership ability to effectively motivate, guide and influence others to successful outcomes
• Skilled at executing complex tasks
• Able to demonstrate good judgment when taking calculated risks individually or for the team
• Able to anticipate problems and take appropriate preventative actions
• Utilize skill set to help more inexperienced team members to be more agile
• Advanced level of experience in multiple IT fields, applications and domains
• Plan and execute small sized technical projects
• Has a broad understanding of the interrelationships within the IT environment with focus on Server and services
• Advanced knowledge of Physical and Virtual Server support
• Advanced knowledge of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activities
• Elevate more complex issues

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required combined with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience
