Global Mobility & Payroll Analyst

Description:
PDS Tech is seeking Global Mobility and Payroll Analyst for a position in Irving, Texas. 
 
Role Purpose:  The Global Mobility Compensation Analyst will be responsible for a variety of global mobility compensation and payroll tasks related to our clients global mobility assignments – U.S. expatriates, U.S. Inpatriates, business travelers and commuters.  This position requires independent work abilities, organizational skills, working with multi-level employees and managers, and collaborating within local and global virtual teams.

Key Responsibilities:

You will work with internal stakeholders and external tax preparers to coordinate tax authorization lists and answer questions (earnings, remittance of foreign taxes, tax equalization and settlement payments).  

You will provide year-end compensation summaries, submit totalization letters, perform quality reviews on compensation, accurate processing and delivery of hypothetical tax, allowance and lump sum payments, payroll-related allowance, and home country housing deductions and research discrepancies.
  • Administer cost projections, compensation balance sheets, global compensation accumulation, tax equalizations, Certificates of Coverage, and global and shadow payroll
  • Validate with internal and external contacts, payroll start and end dates to ensure accuracy in payroll communications
  • Utilize client policies, assignment letters, provider tables and information received from internal and external contacts to calculate and audit payroll related benefits
  • Employ use of internal database to ensure client due dates are met based on established payroll calendar and collection schedule
  • Timely collection and reconciliation of global compensation accumulation and pay register
  • Audit returned compensation accumulation for reasonability and policy adherence
  • Work with external tax provider to audit, prepare, and track tax equalizations
  • Timely and accurate submission of applications for expatriate Certificates of Coverage
  • Provide analysis and reporting based on global mobility requirements
  • Drive year-end processes through communication and delivery of client-specific reporting
  • Thorough review and reconciliation of year-to-date data for total compensation reporting
  • Proactively recommend, document, and implement process improvements and efficiencies
  • Monthly review of several payroll reports to ensure appropriate tax treatment for US assignees
  • Coordinate with overseas HR and Payroll Accounting staff to ensure proper reporting of locally paid compensation and tracking of monthly files, escalating as needed
  • Coordinate with external tax service provider(s) on annual global tax return preparation authorizations and related services
  • Review of expatriate compensation reports and Forms W-2 to ensure proper payroll reporting, including research and resolution of any differences
  • Review and processing of annual US tax settlement calculations and foreign tax settlement calculations prepared by the tax service provider(s)
  • Coordinate with tax service provider(s) on income tax gross ups, estimated tax payments, and tax advance payments
  • Research and review tax queries on international assignment policies from GM, HRBPs, business managers, vendors and employees (our clients)

Specific functional capabilities, knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge of global mobility assignment matters (payroll, accounts payable, relocation, tax, and compensation and benefits)
  • Knowledge of international compensation calculations (hypothetical tax, allowances and lump sum payments, payroll-related allowances, home-country housing deductions, etc.)
  • Understanding of world affairs, geography and economic issues
  • Language skills or international living/working experience

Formal Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in global mobility/expatriate or payroll outsourcing services in Big 4, global management consultancy firm, niche consultancy or in-house role with exposure to large-scale projects
  • SPHR, GPHR or CPP certification (preferred) or progress towards certification
  • Basic accounting skills to understand implications of expatriate tax transactions
  • Understand and document processes in a high volume environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Knowledge of Excel including Vlookups, Pivot Tables, and Formulas preferred
