Quality Engineer

Description:
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful individual will provide production support by performing the following activities:



This position supports the plant Quality department and systems to ensure support of process improvements, quality and new product activities, and promotes the use of performance excellence.

Areas of responsibility include:

Plant TL 9000 certification, internal auditing, supplier management, customer satisfaction and management of changes that impact quality metrics and systems. This position reports to the Quality Manager.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance of Quality Management Systems

  • Supports preparation for TL 9000 certification

  • Supports document control and change management for the plant

  • Participates and/or leads customer notifications and supplier quality investigations

  • Technical support for first articles and receiving inspection

  • Participates in internal audits of Quality Management Systems

  • Responsible for identifying and providing training for internal auditors

  • Reviews document changes, process evaluations, and product deviations

  • Reviews key quality metrics (PPM) and develops improvement plans for manufacturing areas. Alerts appropriate levels on trends and critical quality issues

  • Responsible for ensuring supplier corrective actions are submitted and addressed in a timely manner

  • Lead/participate in supplier qualification

  • Participates on new product introductions

  • Responsible for ensuring process performance is tracked in key manufacturing areas and data is reviewed and reported

  • Ensures that sampling plans are adequate and Measurement System Analysis (MSAs) are conducted consistently

  • Executes quality assurance processes and systems to ensure that product meets all applicable quality requirements

  • Lead/support process controls and improvement such as identifying key process inputs and outputs, Critical to Quality (CTQ) and process control plan.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:


  • 40 hours per week, additional hours/weekends when needed to support project work/quality issue resolution


Desired Skills:


  • SAP Quality and Material Modules

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer and certified ISO 9001 quality auditor

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC project experience

  • Use of Lean tools

  • Knowledge reading and interpreting blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) plans for manufacturing

  • Knowledge using precision measuring instruments

  • Knowledge of manufacturing of Optical assembly components and product attribute


Soft Skills:


  • Ability to work within a team environment (strong team player)

  • Proven self-starter, able to effectively handle high levels of uncertainty and change


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Three to five years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience

  • Jig and fixture design experience

  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability

  • Experience with 3-D CAD programs, such as Solidworks

  • Strong project management skills

  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude

  • Must display maturity and a high level of professionalism

  • Must know Ohms KW and Voltage

  • Must have Automotive Manufacturing experience

  • Proficient in Problem Solving

  • Work 50 hrs /week

  • Must be flexible

  • Carry a heavy work load

  • Proficient in SPC Charts Creating and maintaining

  • Manage the Quality Boards and Charts

  • Proficient in Problem Solving Forms

  • Team Player and work on your own

  • Excellent communicator and presenter
