Job Summary
The Space, GNS (Global Positioning System & Navigation Systems) and STE (Special Test Equipment) Department is a key strategic member of the Software Engineering Center. The SGNSS Department develops and delivers industry-leading Space, GNS & STE technologies. GNS programs provide affordable Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions by leveraging our existing products and technologies, focusing, research and developments, and expanding our strategic customer and supplier partnerships. GNS Programs also support all elements of military Global Positioning System (GPS) technology including aircraft GPS navigation, weapon GPS/Inertial Navigation System (INS) guidance and advanced technology programs. GNS Programs support a variety of applications such as amphibious assault vehicles, aviation, maritime, munitions and handheld devices.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
GNS area programs is looking for senior software team member specialized in Special Test Equipment development to provide testing of GPS Receiver development project in support of the Government’s effort in the modernization of the GPS User Segment and Airborne GPS Receivers. Primary responsibilities include requirements management/development, software architecting, and preliminary design for Special Test Equipment at the system, unit, and module levels and software test IV&V. Additional responsibilities include: test-software development of command, control, and telemetry of various control mechanisms. A qualified candidate for GNS Programs would possess proficiency with C/C++.

Typical job functions for the Senior Software Engineer position in the SGNS Department include planning, conduct, and coordination of software designs, software development, documentation, testing, and debug of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems. Our Software Engineers apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle as well as correct program errors, prepare operating instructions, compile documentation of program development, and analyze system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
The candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to work independently, and the ability to manage personal and small team (2-3 people) workload to meet assigned deadlines. The candidate should have experience successfully working and leading in a collaborative environment. The candidate will be involved with the planning, conduct, and coordination of test software designs, test software architecture, and documentation.

**U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.**

Required Skills:
•Minimum 8 years of related technical individual contributor experience in a large team software engineering development
•Experience in C/C++
•Experience with Test Development Environments (Microsoft Visual Studios) •Experience with Graphical User Interface (GUI) development
•Experience with Interfaces: GPIB, Ethernet, USB, Serial, Firewire, Fibre Channel, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553
•Experience in full life-cycle software development, implementation, test, design and overall architecture
•Experience writing Software Requirements Specifications, Preliminary/Critical design development, and SW Requirements flow down and traceability
•Test Station Integration and Troubleshooting
•Experience with software test activities and planning
•Experience with software test activities and planning
•Strong written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
•Clearance
•Access to US only data

Desired Skills:
•Experience with GPS and/or Radar test and Integration
•Experience with software implementation of timing and controls
•Experience with Configuration Management tools
•Experience with tools such as JIRA and VectorCast
•Experience with automated test tools, techniques, and practices
•Experience with Agile-Scrum methodology
•Understanding of software development best practices and processes •Knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools Required Education: BS or higher degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.
