Embedded Software Engineer

Description:
Embedded Software Engineer for the development of aircraft AC and DC power distribution subsystems and for the integration of power switching devices and smart electronic power controllers. The engineer will perform software development according to RTCA/DO-178 process. The engineer will work together with hardware designers to test and verify the design during the development to qualify and certify of the product for aerospace applications.


Primary Responsibilities
Review and validate customer’s requirements.
Able to decompose system level requirements into subsystem and component level requirements.
Develop Software Development Plan per RTCA/DO-178 requirement
Participate in Formal Reviews
Design, develop, code, test and debug integrated hardware and software systems.
Conduct code reviews and apply best practices and adhere to Company coding standards
Document design data, test data and analytic results.
Develop verification test plan and perform verification testing.
Define communication protocol for MIL-STD-1553, CAN, ARINC-485 and other data bus.
Develop automation testing systems for power products for manufacturing testing.
Coordinate testing activities on assigned projects in a multi-disciplinary team.
Coordinate product transition from engineering to operations.
Familiar with Aerospace and Defense Development Processes.
Provide post production support
Perform other duties as required.
Actively participates in Lean and 6-S initiatives.
Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.


Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or University in Computer/Software/Electrical Engineer discipline required.
Minimum 5 year of experience with embedded C software programming activities within the aerospace environment.
Experience with RTCA/DO-178 development process at Level A or B.
Experience with Hardware & Software Integration Testing.
Experience with LabVIEW design and national instrument equipment.
Experience with capturing requirement and designs using DOORS.
Experience with development in multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skill.
Must be well organized, detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science Degree in Software/Computer Engineering
Experience with embedded design based on ARM Cortex-M3/M4 and 8051 microcontrollers.
Experience with CAN, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-485, SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet.
Familiar with Power MOSFETs and electro-mechanical technologies.
Experience with scripting languages (i.e. Python, Batch File)
Familiar in handling high power testing and instrumentations, 270 VDC and 115 VAC.
Familiar with aerospace industry standards.
Team player
Pragmatic thinker able to prioritize and mitigate risks
Capable of challenging technical elements of the customer's specification
