Software Engineer - Electro-Mechanical Systems

Overview:



  • This opening is for a Software Engineering position within the Test Engineering Center of Excellence in Irvine California.

  • This Software Engineer will be a part of an integrated, cross-functional team responsible for designing, developing, deploying and supporting Test Equipment for Electro Mechanical systems.

  • Candidates are expected to be able to perform engineering functional leadership for all phases of an engineering software development projects assigned too.

  • Applicants should have the ability to define, develop, validate, and work with a cross functional group of Test Engineers assigned to a development project.

  • Typical responsibilities may include working with leading the technical requirements, design and development of other software engineers, working with the Engineering Project Manager to create and maintain estimates of schedule and budget for a complete engineering project, and performing as the bid leader for proposals of small to medium sized projects.

  • Applicant will perform software development in all life-cycle phases, work closely with program management, and interface with internal and external customers.

  • Candidates will be expected to independently perform multiple tasks and be able to work with a variety of development and test tools. 


 


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

  • US Citizenship is required

  • Experience in real-time control systems is required

  • Experience with MS Windows based applications, C / C++ / C# and National Instruments Labview is required

  • Experience with safety critical software development methods (such as DO-178, DO-254) or Agile software development tools are desired.


 


PREFERRED



  • Experience with Electromechanical Systems is a plus

  • Experience with National Instruments development tools (CVI, Test Stand) is a plus

  • Experience with FPGAs programming including National Instruments cRIO technologies is a plus

  • Project management/project engineering experience preferred


 


The following talents and characteristics are very desirable: 



  • Knowledge in the areas of baseline control, earned value, risk management and product support 

  • Familiarity with various interface standards is highly recommended (ARINC 429, MIL-1553, RS-232/485. Ethernet, USB)
