Process Safety Management (PSM) SPECIALIST



ROLE SUMMARY

The PSM Team supporting process safety and compliance to OSHA PSM and EPA RMP.  Primary responsibilities will be organizing process safety information and facilitating process hazard analyses.  Additional responsibilities will be managing of change control, providing process safety support for projects, tracking PHA recommendations and participating in incident investigations. 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • The practical and effective interpretation, implementation and execution of both external (OSHA, EPA RMP) and internal Pharmaceutical Guidelines related to Process Safety Management (PSM) that impact multiple areas and departments within the Kalamazoo site. 

  • Interpretation and application of chemical reaction hazards data to full scale production processes as it pertains to assessing risk

  • Working with key stakeholders evaluate the technical, safety and regulatory impact of proposed equipment and process changes as it applies to PSM and provide leadership in risk-based decision making

  • Leading comprehensive Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) on both exiting processes/facilities and capital projects

  • Compiling and interpretation of process safety information

  • Participate in and/or lead incident investigations as needed/assigned

  • Leading process safety related projects


Additional responsibilities will also include, as needed


  • The development and delivery of PSM related training materials to enhance the understanding and effectiveness of the program.

  • Represent EHS on PSM issues with other plant stakeholders and coordinate PSM initiatives with other Pharmaceutical operational and support areas (i.e. - Engineering CPA process, Mechanical Integrity program, Emergency Response)


 

QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. 

•             Practical experience in Process Safety, Manufacturing or Engineering

•             Knowledge and/or experience with chemical reaction hazards data, emergency relief systems design, P&IDs, and hazardous analysis methodologies. 

•             Experience with chemical release modeling software

•             Demonstrated ability to successfully engage with multiple levels of the organization and the proven ability to lead cross functional teams

•             Demonstrated leadership and technical capabilities

•             Successful track record at self-directed task accomplishments
