The potential research areas will include, but are not limited to:
Generalized use of radar equipment for communication and sensing for information sharing needs of future generation vehicles
System-level integration and software-defined radio implementation of a proof-of-concept (PoC) system of dual use radar equipment for communications
Develop higher-layer protocols based on the integrated radar-communications functionality
Perform simulations as needed
Assist developing a proof-of-concept (PoC) system of mmWave V2V/V2I collaborative sensor fusion using mmWave communication radios and test vehicles with various sensors
Evaluate the sensing performance with and without the collaborative sensing system through field experiments to show the benefit of the PoC system
Investigate and contribute to the concept of knowledge-layer networking by way of helping to develop machine learning algorithms to extract knowledge and to evaluate the overall system
Create demo videos of the PoC systems mentioned above
Prepare technical reports
Create academic publications and invention disclosures
Strong knowledge of all protocol layers of vehicular networks, radar and other sensor systems, software-defined radio concepts, machine learning and simulation of vehicular networks.
Strong Python and Matlab skills, familiarity with GNURadio software environment, familiarity with network simulators and traffic simulators, familiarity with Python or Matlab-based machine learning tools.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a highly motivated team environment.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to respond professionally in all types of situations.
