Embedded Software Developer (Elevator Industry)

Description:
This position will entail development and support of embedded software for a variety of elevator system applications. The primary focus is support of software baseline for existing North American controller products.

Responsibilities
• Portfolio Maintenance
o Develop and maintain a solid working knowledge of application software, control system architecture and elevator industry codes and standards.
o Maintain software test environment.
o Configure and validate software components.
o Release applications following Otis Software Process, including factory implementation coordination.
• Customer Support
o Address questions generated by field users.
o Investigate reported performance issues and provide resolution.
o Update documentation as necessary to provide clarification.
o Support field engineering personnel at job sites when necessary.
• New Feature Development
o Work as team member to define, clarify and document feature requirements.
o Plan and schedule new feature development tasks.
o Develop and test software to verify requirements compliance.
o Release applications following Otis Software Process, including factory implementation coordination.

Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience in a related field; or Masters’ degree and 3+ years’ experience in a related field.
• Develop software using object oriented embedded languages such as C/C++.
• Experience with complete software development lifecycle process.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with application of software diagnostic tools.
• Work independently with limited resources and minimal supervision.
• Adaptable to a rapidly changing environment.
• Multi-task in order to satisfy multiple customer requirements.
• Able to deliver quality product while satisfying strict delivery requirements.
• Possess strong business and technical communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ experience in a related field; or Masters’ degree and 5+ years’ experience in a related field.
• Elevator industry experience.
• Requirements verification tools such as DOORS.
• Real time operation systems such as ThreadX, VxWorks or Linux.
• Software revision control system experience.
• Embedded product development team leadership role.
