Multi Craft Technician-(Electrical/Maintenance)

PDS Tech is currently recruiting for a Multi-Craft Technician (Electrical/Maintenance) to work a Direct opportunity in Crab Orchard, TN!

Responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all plant equipment, repairing all plant equipment, installing all new plant equipment, maintaining safe and efficient work condition for all mobile equipment, performing electrical work, working with outside contractors on equipment, and keeping parts rooms neat and orderly.
  • Perform the repair and preventative maintenance of process equipment.  
  • Troubleshoot problems in electrical circuits, electric motors, starters, and VFD’s. 
  • Perform daily inspection and calibration as needed of process control equipment and environmental compliance equipment.

  • Working knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance.
  • Industrial background familiar with programming and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoots electronics, electronic equipment controls, electrical distribution systems and computer hardware and software.  Repairs/replaces defective computer components and network devices as needed.
  • Maintains, supports, and documents computer and network hardware and software applications and operating systems.
  • Review the preventative and predictive maintenance systems to ensure that the defined activities are sufficient to identify potential sources of failure before failures occur.


  • Report any unsafe condition to a supervisor immediately
  • Complete pre-shift inspection on equipment
  • Complete time use maintenance reports


  • Assist in tracking inventory as directed


  • Attend safety meetings
  • Enforce company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain Company and Federal House Keeping Standards.
  • Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner, adhering to company and governmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to supervision.
  • Know and follow lock out tag out procedures.
  • Must have a high regard of other’s safety in the field.
  • Set an impeccable example with respect to safe behavior, adherence to Environmental, Safety, and Health policies, and activities linked to the performance of maintenance work without incident or injury.
  • Tell the Maintenance Manager, Mine Manager, or Mine Foreman of safety hazards, repairs, or help that is needed to operate the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform pre shift inspections and document them.
  • Operate the plant within its means to help minimize issues that could occur from break downs and plug up.

  • Programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and variable frequency drives a plus.
  • Read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, standard operating procedures, electrical drawings, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Must be able perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Must have a telephone and be open to callouts.
  • Self-Motivated and able to work independently.
  • Work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes.
  • Proven self-direction and leadership abilities.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meeting all required deadlines.
  • Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs. 
  • Good understanding of safety and the desire to following all established procedures are required.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Previous SAP knowledge is a plus

Required Experience:  Must have at least 2 -4 years of industrial electrical experience. The ability and willingness to work on any shift, and be on call, overtime, and weekends. Must have strong PLC, software and electrical and electronic control systems programming and installation experience including working with 4160V, in a heavy industrial background, preferably in lime or cement.

Preferred Experience:  5-7 years of heavy industrial electrical experience in a mining environment.

Required Education:  High School Diploma, GED Equivalent, or demonstrated skills or ability and/or formal technical training through apprenticeship or technical school.

Preferred Education:  Associates Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the field is desired. 

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in office environment but mainly in a mining environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions:  Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed.
