Security Engineer
(US Citizenship Required*)
Washington DC

• Contribute to incident response, cyber resiliency analysis, and recovery plans.
• Direct the web application and platform security testing.
• Work with current platform and application monitoring tools to capture anomalous activity in systems
• Ensure that proper alert mechanisms are in place.
• Work closely with industry partners to advise the government on security vulnerabilities and recommendations.
• Develop and execute security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems
• Research attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures
• Maintain hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols
• Administer security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems
• Provide information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems
• May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions
• May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions
• Develop, test, debug, and deploy code or processing routines that support security protocols for an established system or systems should be matched to the appropriate Programmer or Programmer/Analyst family in the Information Technology/MIS functional area
• Apply current computer science technologies to the design, development, evaluation, and integration of computer systems and networks to maintain system security
• Provide security engineering and integration services to customers
• Involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, electronic data traffic and network access

• Required – active Top Secret clearance. Candidates without this clearance or higher will not be considered.
• Required – successfully pass a credit check.
• Experience recognizing and remediating application vulnerability points and handling application critical data.
• Strong ability to perform all responsibilities associated with the position
• Grasps and applies new information quickly; handles more complex assignments
• Shows initiative on assignments, exercises independent judgment and professionally executes projects with little direction
• Strong knowledge of the following:
o disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans
o response and handling methodologies
o resource management principles and techniques
o server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods
o system life cycle management principles, including software security and usability
o information security program management and project management principles and techniques
o network systems management principles, models, methods (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring), and tools
o security architecture concepts and enterprise architecture reference models
o applicable business processes and operations of customer organizations
o system software and organizational design standards, policies, and authorized approaches relating to system design
• Skilled in deconflicting cyber operations and activities
• Wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
• Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments
• May provide work direction to other employees
• May supervise the activities of others
• Subject matter expert (SME) in at least one discipline/field and possesses working knowledge in multiple adjacent disciplines/fields

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or equivalent is required and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience.
