Job Description
Major purpose:
Major functions: IDENTIFY DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
-Develop and document processes using equipment, tooling, and material handling (Internal and Purchased)
-Create and maintain the layout of the work area
-Work with cross functional team to ensure processes to meet Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics
-Document processes based on supplied documentation using equipment, tooling, and material handling (Internal and purchased)
-Create and maintain the layout of the work area
-Evaluate work methods, prepare and / or modify documented work instructions
-Specify tools, gages, fixtures and any related support equipment for assigned areas of responsibility
-Interface with vendors on problem resolution, fixture design and build or rebuilding of tools and fixtures
-Train Team Leaders and UAW employees on proper execution of work instructions as needed
-Analyze new product quotes and provide cost estimates on tools, fixtures, machines, gages and recurring labor
-Support production by resolving process, producibility and quality problems using Lean Sigma techniques
-Write Scopes of Work (SOW), detailed presentations, and financial justification for the procurement of capital equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology with a minimum of 5 years experience required or 21+ years of engine manufacturing experience
- Must have extensive hands on experience with machining equipment from 1950’s to current (Manual, CNC and Automation)
- Availability for occasional business travel
- Availability for casual overtime based on workload and/or urgency
- Must be able to move freely, with or without reasonable accommodation, throughout a manufacturing environment
- Must be familiar with, and able to utilize all Microsoft Office Applications
- Good written and verbal communication skills required
- Must have experience in working in a manufaturing machining shop ,and experienced in the following:
- Set-up and operation of manual and CNC machining equipment
- Process Planning Software
- Bill of Material structures
- Assembly fixture concepts & Design
- How to work with suppliers in the design and fabrication of fixtures, tools, parts or machines
- How to work within a union environment
- Must be able to read machining and assembly prints and correlate them with the Bill of Material and associated processes
- Must understand metric measurements and tooling
- Previously held security clearance preferred. Ability to get security clearance required
- Must be able to move freely, with or without accommodation, throughout the manufacturing environment

PREFER
- Project Management experience, have used MS Project in the past and have developed Statement of Work, Work Breakdown Structure, and Schedules
- Understanding of Geometeric Dimensioning & Tolerancing techniques
- Working knowledge of using CAD models and programs in ProE and AutoCad
