Network Designer

Description:
**Active secret clearance is required to start. Candidates who do not have an active clearance will not be considered.**

Performs network and component management to ensure technical viability and cost-effectiveness from the point where it is evaluated through implementation and support, to retirement. Uses technical expertise to help business partners and others by answering technical questions regarding the usage, trouble-shooting and functionality of network\delivery systems to ensure effective implementation. Have a strong knowledge of computing and network systems to assist in troubleshooting techniques. Assist the team in choosing appropriate network\computing products and methods to ensure requirements are met for security, problem management, capacity/performance management and operational management. Identifies, and documents requirements for network and computing technologies and services.

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Prepares, deploys and coordinates installation of implementation packages per Boeing standards. Performs maintenance of network systems
- Analyzes business requirements to develop computing requirements assuring that expectations such as functionality, reliability, availability, affordability, security and performance are comprehensive and feasible. Documents and presents recommendations.
- Designs systems and/or components to meet requirements by analyzing and evaluating information gathered against existing standard products and strategies, as well as new technologies, to create integrated designs. Uses technical and industry knowledge to evaluate technical components to assess which will be viable solutions to satisfy customer requirements. Make recommendations and presents solid solutions to stakeholders and documents.
- Builds and/or configures network and delivery systems (operating systems and operational software) and/or components by obtaining, developing, assembling, and integrating hardware and software components in order to deliver/deploy product or service.
- Develops test plans such as functional, integration and usability. Tests delivery systems and/or components to ensure that components and systems function according to test plans and are ready for production.
- Makes choices in the use of testing techniques that will be appropriate to ensure production readiness of network computing components. Assesses component for readiness and determines whether or not it should be implemented. Documents and presents results and proposes corrective actions as needed to stakeholders, peers and suppliers to validate delivery systems and/or components functions.
- Evaluates and documents emerging technology trends and products of potential interest to the company in advanced technology area of expertise. Reviews technical literature and commercial products.
- Assists the consulting team as a subject matter expert by conducting research and making recommendations.

Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.
